This 3 stage Ethylene Oxide / Propylene Oxide scrubber is installed in a chemical plant in Belgium. The first venturi stage (made of SS 316) cools the incoming gases (130 °C, or 266°F). During this cooling process, the scrubber liquid warms up. Reaction heat from the transition of Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide into their respective glycols increases the temperature of the scrubber liquid even more.

A Titanium plate heat exchanger cools the scrubber liquid so that the temperature is kept below the maximum temperature of 30 °C (86 °F). The second and third stage packed tower scrubbers reduce concentrations of Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide at the scrubber outlet to less than 1 mg/Nm³. This scrubber is operational since 1999.
